Banca d'Italia — public consultation on «Caratteristiche degli Smart Contract»
July 2023. BABEL submitted a response to the public consultation opened by Banca d'Italia on the working document «Caratteristiche degli Smart Contract», produced under the memorandum of understanding signed by Banca d'Italia, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Università degli Studi Roma Tre on the characteristics of smart contracts used by distributed ledger infrastructures for banking, financial and insurance services.
The submission proposed a summary table of definitions with an appendix of legal sources, and the alignment of the document's terminology with the European Law Institute Principles on Blockchain Technology, Smart Contracts and Consumer Protection, in view of the wider harmonisation of legal concepts referring to technological matters.
CONSOB — «Le offerte iniziali e gli scambi di cripto-attività»
May 2019. BABEL and the Department of Economics and Management responded to the call for evidence launched by CONSOB, the Italian securities and markets authority, on initial coin offerings and crypto-asset trading venues. A public hearing was held at Bocconi University, Milan, on 21 May 2019; the final report was published on 2 January 2020.
