The University of Florence's Department of Economics and Management invites applications for a research grant on digital tokens and the financial system's evolution: from technological innovation to integration in economic law. This grant is part of the PRIN project “Designing a Governance for The Token Economy in a Decentralised Era,” which aims to examine the impact and integration of digital tokens within the financial system.
Project Highlights:
• Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs): Analysing their effects on money circulation.
• Legal Implications: Investigating digital token custody in financial intermediation.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct a comparative analysis of EU approaches to integrating digital tokens.
• Perform longitudinal studies on the evolution of financial regulations.
• Examine case studies and models of CBDC adoption and token-based services.
• Develop policy recommendations based on research findings.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and contribute to academic and policy debates.
Eligibility Criteria:
• PhD in Economic and Financial Market Law or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of EU banking, capital, and money market law.
• Excellent analytical and writing skills in English.
• Experience with financial regulations, blockchain technology, and digital innovations.
• Advanced IT skills, particularly in blockchain, smart contracts, and tokens.
Grant Details:
• Annual amount: €21,557.60 (including social security costs), with an additional €1,408.08 mobility allowance for qualified candidates residing abroad.
• Duration:
- 12 months starting from October 1, 2024.
